Creating Processes

A process can be displayed as a defining view in precisely one diagram. The process can be shown as a referencing view in any number of other diagrams.

A process and a diagram are differentiated between in the model. A diagram is a bit like a piece of paper which can be used to model processes on. Various processes can be shown at the same time in a diagram, if needed.

It is also possible to display a process in various diagrams at the same time. Innovator differentiates between the defining view and the referencing views: There is precisely one defining view per process which is used for modeling; there can be any number of referencing views which only display the process.

You normally create a new diagram first if you want to create and model a new process; the process will then be created in the new diagram.
